So, Cinque Terre is this Ligurian Paradise I have written on many times. More often than not, any international visitor to the Cinque Terre will find themselves in this region of Italy upon the recommendation of someone they either met along their own travels, or overheard while on their own travels.

A brief recap, Cinque Terre (meaning 5 lands) is named so because it’s made up of 5 gorgeous jaw-dropping old fishing villages: Vernazza, Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia and Monterosso al Mare. I have covered each village and its unique attributes on this site.

The thing about the Cinque Terre is that it has been receiving more and more visitors each year. Back in 2015, that was JUST 2.5 million. Last year that number leapt to 4 million visitors. In fact, there are now fears that the Cinque Terre’s delicate environment and infrastructure cannot keep up and many of the villages along the Blue Trail are considering placing some kind of cap on daily travel to the region.

You can’t cover all these in a single day. Not cover them so that you can really appreciate the region. What you CAN do is see the Cinque Terre in pieces.
