    TRAVEL,  LAZIO,  ROME

Sagra della Castagna di Manziana [Chestnut Festival of Manziana]

After two years of hiatus (thanks Covid🙄), the long-awaited Chestnut Festival returns to Manziana. The Sagra della Castagna di Manziana [Chestnut Festival of Manziana], is among the Italian festivals, and we have a lot of them here in Italy! It’s a two-day celebration, dedicated to the autumn fruit and more. The event takes place in the centre of the town and was born from the collaboration of traders, associations and over 200 volunteers from Manziana who, year after year, give their contribution to the realization of the festival. The event aims to help revive the economy of the town in the province of Rome, involves children, and gives space to…

Horrifying things Tourists have done in Italy

The sad tales of Horrifying things Tourists have done in Italy just brings out the worst of tourists misbehaving in Italy, Italy being one of the most visited countries in the world, but sadly it comes with its consequences. Spare The Art…for the Children! Graffiti … Is it really Art?? At what point does graffiti become art? Just how far do we have to go to make defacing more about art and less about dissension? And before we get to the stage where we are talking about self-expression, do we have the right to do this to art from centuries or even millennia back? Of the two above pics, one…

    Arezzo Tuscany

Arezzo, Tuscany in Italy is a place for art lovers and shopping fans. Its handsome Medieval square is one of the city’s main attractions, used in the Oscar-winning film “Life is Beautiful”. Arezzo might be a bit out off the well-trodden tourist trail in Italy, but it still has plenty to offer. Arezzo is a rural centre of Etruscan origin, an hour southeast of Florence in Tuscany, Italy. It’s well worth a visit, especially since it’s easy to reach by train. This makes it an ideal day trip if you’re based in Florence. You can see all the major sights in a day, without having to fight through crowds. It’s…

    RAVELLO, Amalfi Coast

Breathtakingly beautiful, Ravello sits above the Amalfi Coast’s seaside fishing villages. Ravello is also known as The Balcony Of The Coastiera Amalfitana. Ravello, unlike the majority of towns on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, is not on the sea. Perched on a hilltop more than 1200 feet (~365 meters) above the Mediterranean and far removed from the crowds that flock to the sea towns of Amalfi and Positano, Ravello is the hidden treasure on the Coastiera Amalfitana. Its villas and vistas have enchanted visitors for centuries. Famous actors, authors, composers, and artists have come here for refuge and inspiration. Join me on my Adventures in Italy!

1️⃣ Plan and book in advance: Popular tourist attractions such as Colosseum & the Vatican museums can get crowded during the summer. Also, use Skip-the-Line Tickets to save time and avoid waiting in long queues.

2️⃣ 📸 If you want to take great pictures on most famous landmarks, you need to arrive super early (like before 7AM).

3️⃣ 🤳Stay vigilant against pickpockets: Keep an eye on your belongings, use a money belt or secure bag, and be cautious of your surroundings, especially in busy tourist spots such as Fontana di Trevi, Spanish steps, and public transportation. Be cautious of street peddlers, the most popular is a guy that approaches you and puts a bracelet on your wrist. First, it’s for free but then he wants you to pay for the bracelet.

4️⃣👮‍♂️Validate Your Train and Bus Tickets: When using public transportation, ALWAYS validate your tickets BEFORE boarding to avoid hefty fines.

5️⃣ 💦Bring a reusable water bottle. Rome has many public water fountains (nasoni) where you can refill your water bottle for free. Stay hydrated, especially during the hotter months.

6️⃣ 👗Be Mindful of Dress Codes: When visiting churches or religious sites, it's important to dress appropriately. BOTH men and women should cover their shoulders and knees. Carry a scarf or shawl to cover up if needed.

7️⃣ 📒Learn Basic Italian Phrases: Locals appreciate the effort, and it can make communication smoother, especially in smaller towns where English may be less commonly spoken. Learn a few basic Italian phrases, greet people with a friendly "Buongiorno" or "Buonasera."

8️⃣ 👟Wear comfortable shoes. The best way to explore Rome is by walking and you’ll walk ... A LOT!

9️⃣ 👩‍💻 Buy tickets from the official websites. The prices vary a lot.

🔟🏧Carry Cash: While credit cards are widely accepted, it's a good idea to carry some cash for smaller establishments, markets, or when traveling to more rural areas where card acceptance may be limited.

EXTRA TIP as one who lives in Italy:

👌 There are NO shoulder seasons, unless it's raining hailstones or floods 😅. So you WILL find crowds.
